COVID-19 UPDATE: May 2020

Dear Patients and Friends,

We hope this message finds you happy and well. Our community and the world has gone through a lot in the last few months. As you know, the situation around COVID-19 and the coronavirus pandemic continues to evolve, with many areas looking to begin the process of safely reopening. Recently the CDC removed its recommendation to postpone routine eye care. In light of this, we plan to resume seeing all patients including annual comprehensive exams starting on May 4th. Optometry is an essential service. We feel that all eye and vision care needs are important and look forward to meeting those needs.

While we are excited to be reopening to all patients, we want to make you aware of several changes that we have implemented to continue to combat the spread of COVID-19. These changes will be in place for the foreseeable future.

● We continue to request that anyone known or suspected of having COVID-19 refrain from coming to the office. Instead, please reach out to us via phone so that we can determine the best way to meet your eye care needs. We will be screening patients when scheduling and checking in. ● We may take your temperature at the front desk. ● Doctors and staff will be wearing masks at all times when working with patients as well as maintaining strict hand hygiene with frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer. ● Common areas will be disinfected regularly throughout the day. ● As always, all equipment will be cleaned between every patient. Breath shields have been added to the slit lamps as further protection. ● You will notice separate cups and trays for pens and frames that have been used. Please place them in the designated spots when you are finished so that we can clean them before returning them for use by later patients. ● The frequency of exam slots has been reduced to limit the number of people in the office at a time. ● We will be limiting guests/companions to one per patient. Family members also scheduled for an exam are not considered as a guest and are welcome to come together. ● We have reduced the number of chairs in the waiting areas and increased the spacing between them. Please do your best to respect social distancing in the common areas (waiting rooms, optical). Magazines, books and toys have been removed from the waiting areas.

We understand that some may be at higher risk for illness from COVID-19 or still may not feel comfortable coming into the office yet. We encourage you to contact our office so that we can determine the best way to meet your eye care needs while minimizing exposure. As a reminder, orders can be placed over the phone and glasses or contacts can be shipped or picked up via curbside pick-up. Please call (480) 821-2020 when you arrive to notify a staff member to meet you out front.

Our new office hours for now are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00am-5:00pm.

Please do not hesitate to contact our office with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you soon.
